Dawn Owen Designs The Arts and Crafts Interests of Dawn Owen

Home

artsWelcome to the homepage of Dawn Owen Designs!  I'm Dawn, and I love working on crafts.  I have so many projects going at once that it's usually mind boggling for me and I forget what I'm doing!  I learned to love crafts thanks to my wonderful mother and grandmother.  They taught me so much with arts and crafts and how to live a good life.  Thanks to them!  I remember learning how to make playdough in the kitchen floor of my grandmother's house on a griddle!

I'm building this site in order to have a place to post all of my arts and crafts projects.  I need a place to store all of my info, and figured why not build a website instead of storing it all in some binder on my shelf?  I hope everyone enjoys it.  I'm sure the emphasis of the blog will shift as time goes on and I get into different types of crafts specifically.  Most recently, I've been learning a lot of knitting patterns from http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com and I've also been toying with a lot of projects that involve mason jars.  A good site for this has been http://www.myapothecaryjars.com because they have a lot about weddings and other types of crafts.

Another craft I've been messing with a lot lately is making lanyards.  They are fun to braid using colored yarns and plastic ribbon.  I'm learning a lot from sites about it.  I hadn't considered the option of having them pull off of your neck like that!  This is what I love about crafts!  There are so many options and cool ideas out there.

craftsMy grandmother is great with origami.  She makes all of these complex folds and manages to sew them all together to make giant balls, christmas ornaments, and much more.  My mom loves to do cross-stitching and crochet.  She makes some of the nicest quilts and cooling blankets.  Sissy has the largest collection and the biggest love for the paper punch that I've ever known.  Everyone has their specific craft.  My friend Jenny is great at manipulating picture frames, creating wreaths, and using towel racks, like seen on this page http://towelracked.com/free-standing-towel-racks/.  Me... I don't know what I'm best at, but I love it all.

Please feel free to contact me and tell me what your favorite crafts are!  I'd love to try them out!  What I plan on doing with this site is sharing all of the arts and crafts projects I try, and to pass more links around to awesome sites with great projects to try out.  One thing I want to get involved with is wood carving and burning, and I've started practicing with soap!  Haha!  Gotta start somewhere!

Stick around and try out some of my ideas.  I'll adding more and more as time goes on so bookmark the site!  Have fun crafting!
