Meet Dawn Owen
After seeing her work, Dawn Owen was named a “hidden jewel” by Renee Zellweger, received well wishes from Vera Wang, and told “you go girl” by world-renowned designer Preston Bailey. Dawn’s designs for Ralph Lauren, Elton John, Mexican President Vincente Fox, local celebrities and public figures (who Dawn promised would remain anonymous) have earned her the reputation as a trendsetter and a master of creating dramatic florals and settings that stir emotion.
As a little girl with big dreams (she asked for a pink Porsche for her fifth birthday) Dawn had an obsession with beautiful things. Her admiration for color and design led her to art classes by age four. While her peers were learning the alphabet, Dawn was studying a variety of artistic mediums. She never went anywhere without her sketchbook and still has the original business ideas and drawings for Dawn Owen Designs – created when she was a freshman in high school.
Dawn's love of art and beauty led her to the world of weddings. Fascinated by different fabrics and textures, Dawn became the leading sales consultant at a high-end bridal boutique. Dawn designed bridal gowns and gave advice to brides regarding their wedding details. Struck by her originality, clients encouraged Dawn to start a business that offers professional design concepts for weddings and special events.
While contemplating her next career move, Dawn helped out at a friend's floral shop, and immediately found her niche. The little girl -- who was so hyper her parents gave her a nickel for every dandelion she picked -- was reintroduced to her first true love: flowers. After years of floral design and managing two shops, Dawn set out on another creative adventure.
At age 27, Dawn unveiled her biggest production to date with the establishment of her very own couture floral, wedding and event design firm. Dawn’s bubbly personality and easygoing approach allow her clients to relax, sit back and watch her magically turn their visions into modern-day fairytales.
Dawn Owen has been featured in numerous publications including the Detroit Free Press, Hour, Lucky, Metro Bride, The Knot, Six Degrees, Style and Detroit Home -- to name a few.
“I love what I do. I feel like I’m the luckiest person in the world,” Dawn says. “I wake up every day and work with people who are celebrating the happiest days of their lives. What a blast!” |
